What is home staging?

When preparing your home for the market, there are certain basic guidelines that everyone follows to be "show ready".  In addition, you can take some steps to ensure your home will show as well as or better than the competition of other homes on the market, giving your home a competitive edge.  That´s what staging is all about.

What are the benefits of staging?

A staged home displays certain characteristics and/or lifestyles to the visiting prospective buyer that will not be seen in other homes being viewed.  By properly preparing your home to stand out, you improve the odds of selling quicker and at a higher price.  Your home stands out in the visitor´s memory.  Your home portrays a certain picture in the mind of the buyer.

What staging services do we provide?

Staging services include a home visitation to establish the desired look and feel to be portrayed followed with recommendations for adjustments that would achieve the desired look.  Often the adjustments are simple and of no cost or minimal cost.  We can discuss more extensive options such as remodeling and/or room additions and provide you estimates of the market value or payback you can expect from these projects.

Do you have contractors to assist with improvements?

We have an extensive list of proven handymen and specialists to help you in whatever extent you decide is appropriate to improve your home.  In working with us, you have access to our professionals.

How do I get started?

Call or email us to discuss the best way for you to proceed.  That might be a personal visit to your home to discuss your goals and how our services can help you achieve those goals.  Jim Lubinsky, Re/Max Affiliates Realtors 614-766-5330 ext 119

"Tip of the month"

Scratched and dented woodwork can be easily repaired using a combination of touch-up wax sticks for dents and wood stain (both can be found in furniture or home improvement stores).  With a cloth (use latex gloves to protect your hands from the stain) wipe stain onto the portions of wood showing scratches.  Let the stain soak in and then wipe off any excess with a clean cloth.  Cheese cloth or other minimal lint cloth is best.  For just a small area of scratches, Old English furniture polish can be used.  It comes in different tones to match the wood you are treating.  We found the results are not as long lasting as the staining approach.
